This policy explains what information CarRecallRecord (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, and how it is used.
Information we collect
- No accounts: you don’t need to sign up, and we don’t ask for your name, email address or payment details.
- VIN lookups: when you use the VIN check, your browser sends the VIN directly to NHTSA’s public API to decode it. We do not store VINs on our servers.
- Usage data: we use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and see which pages are popular. This data is aggregated and does not identify you.
- Emails: if you contact us, we keep your message and email address only to reply.
Cookies and advertising
We show ads to keep this site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info. See how Google uses data from partner sites.
Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message, and personalized ads are only served with consent.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for advertising. Because we don’t collect personal information directly, most requests are best handled through the opt-out links above. You can also contact us at contact@carrecallrecord.com.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
