Problem
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD vehicles. The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit.
Safety risk
An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.
Remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 11, 2025. Owners may contact GM customer assistance number at 1-866-467-9700. GM's number for this recall is N242482680. Vehicles in this recall that were previously repaired under 23V266 will need to have the new remedy completed.

After crossing over a rough part of the road at an intersection, I heard a noise. I pulled over to visually inspect and I didn't see anything obvious. Since I was on the interstate, I drove to the next exit to find a safe place to park. The noise stopped but my brakes completely failed. I pressed the brakes and there was no pressure behind the pedal. I used the parking brake to come to a stop and drove very slowly to a store nearby. The brake pressure eventually returned. Had the truck towed to a GM dealership that can do Medium Duty repairs. I received a text that my brake hardware and pads were missing and a caliper was leaking. After this was repaired, I was told the brake hose needed rep
