2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV recalls

2024 GM Canyon bought brand new in December 2024, now has 24,700 miles and the front brake pads are down to 2% per the GMC dealership service department. Premature brake wear, and GM is refusing to pay for it.

I purchased my truck with 5 miles on the speedometer in Anchorage AK 4/7/2024. In May 2024, the engine idled rough and transmission shifted hard, I was told me it was normal, and I would have to wait 2 yrs to make a transmission appointment. In June 2024 approaching a green light, approximately 35 mph, the brakes locked, I had no control over the steering and it left a 5 foot skid mark. I had a painful neck and headaches. The shop said they couldn’t make it do it again. In August 2024 approaching a stoplight at 40 mph, the brakes locked, would not release, gas didn’t work, I had no control over steering this left 6-7 ft skid mark, The vehicle also had electrical issues the interior dash ligh

Vehicle alerted driver that ECS and. Rake assist was needed and disabled abs and forward collision while lighting up multiple warning lights on dashboard. Lights eventually turned off leaving a check engine light on. Multiple codes pulled from system using obd2 reader. Communication bus B offline and U0074, U0151, U0447,U0452 all at same time.

Adaptive Cruise Control has applied brakes multiple times while cruise has been sent at speeds ranging from 55-75 MPH. Vehicle aggressively slowed down 10-20 MPH then picked up speed. No vehicles in sight ahead of vehicle, aggressively applied braking without warning. Aggressive braking could cause traffic behind vehicle to crash into me while driving at high speeds. Multiple other reports of this happening to other 2023-2024 GMC Canyon owners based on comments on Facebook and Reddit with acknowledgement from the manufacturer that this is a know issue they currently are trying to resolve. I was driving with my cruise control set at 77 mph in the fast lane of a four-lane highway. There was no one in front of me for more than 3/4 of a mile. A car in the lane to my right apparently triggered the automatic breaking system to the point it slammed on my brakes, pushed me into the steering wheel, and slowed me all the way to 38 mph in the fast lane of the freeway. The result of this unrequested breaking caused four cars behind me to almost rear end me and pile up. The second event was going down the freeway with the cruise control set at 65 and nobody around me and the car again slammed the brakes on for no apparent reason.
